Work Begins on Podium Expansion

Development consent for Stage 3A of the Podium was achieved just prior to Christmas, and we are pleased to announce that early earthworks have now commenced on Podium Stage 3A with foundation works to commence soon after.

As previously advised, construction of Stage 2 was put on hold in 2021 due to leasing issues encountered as a result of Covid.  This saw us bring forward delivery of Stages 3A and 3B in order to deliver a more robust and better shopping centre for our community.

Stage 3A is located directly to the north of the existing shopping centre and will include some exciting new retail spaces including a Coles supermarket, a large child care centre and significant upgrades to Podium Way allowing for a more pleasant outdoor dining experience.  Stage 3A is over 1 ½ times bigger than the existing retail space in Stage 1 and once construction is complete, the retail space will be 2 ½ times the current size.

Stage 3A will include a small food court which will open out to a new park off Oran Park Drive.  The underground car park will be expanded with additional entrances added off Dick Johnson Drive and Oran Park Drive.  The car park will include smart car parking facilities which will also be retrofitted to the existing car park.

Stage 3A will link to the existing shopping centre via a covered walkway which will create a north-south retail promenade.

A DA for Stage 3B was lodged in September 2021 and is still under assessment.  Stage 3B includes more retail spaces on the ground floor and a 184 room Atura Hotel also featuring generous conference and meeting facilities.  Entry to the hotel will be from Level 1 which will also provide access to the restaurant, bar and outdoor pool.  We expect to commence construction of 3B mid this year.

Stage 3A is expected to be completed by the end of 2023.  Once Stage 3A is complete, we intend to start construction on Stage 2 as we already have most of the approvals in place.
